Cost management
The term Quantity Surveyor (Q.S.) is of UK derivation. Generally, the QS is trained to be the Estimator, Lawyer and Accountant of the construction industry, and amongst those tasks is the preparation of Estimates or Budgets—amongst other functions the Q.S. performs a similar role to the Estimator you might find in the US. Beyond estimates and budgets, The Quantity Surveyor is trained in preparing bid/tender documentation, drafting consultant and construction contracts, and the resolution of disputes: a useful member to have on your team!
